The Student Affairs Employee of the Month Program recognizes and celebrates the outstanding contributions of staff who go above and beyond to make learning possible.

FAQs about the Nomination and Selection Process

Recipients must be full-time, permanent Student Affairs employees in good standing. Employees on performance improvement plans at the time of nomination will not be eligible. Employees may receive this recognition only once per calendar year.

Recipients will also be considered for Student Affairs Employee of the Year recognition, presented at the Fall 2025 Student Affairs All Staff Meeting.

Any member of the KU community (students, staff, faculty, etc.) can nominate an eligible staff member for this award. Self-nominations will not be considered.

Nominations are evaluated based on the following criteria:

Contribution to enhancing department and/or campus community morale
Positive impact on the student experience
Commitment to holistic health, wellness, and safety of all Jayhawks
Collaboration with colleagues, students, and campus and community partners
Overall job performance

Each month, the Student Affairs Recognition Committee, comprised of staff from across Student Affairs, will review nominations and select the Student Affairs Employee of the Month.

Nominations will remain active and under consideration for up to three months post submission, unless re-nominated.

Nominations are accepted during the first 20 days of each month. Any nominations received after the first 20 days will be considered for the following month.
