Student Affairs offers an exciting, collaborative, and innovative environment to build your career. As a Student Affairs staff member, you connect with peers across the institution, grow as a professional, and engage with national associations to enhance your career. Ready to get started? We can’t wait to meet you.

Find the Right Fit

Once you've taken a look at the current open positions and explored KU’s employment website, let us know you're interested. Don’t see the right fit listed? We’d still love to hear from you. Send us an email with your resume and tell us more about yourself. We often have new opportunities on the horizon and we are eager to connect you with the KU Student Affairs teams aligned with your interests.

Complete an Application

The official hiring process begins with an application on KU’s employment website. A completed application includes a resume, cover letter, and contact information for three references. Some positions may also ask for a writing sample, supplemental questions, or additional work samples. We’ll make sure additional requests are clearly communicated through the application process.

After you apply, we’ll contact you regarding the next steps in the process. You should expect to hear from the search committee within a two weeks of the priority review deadline listed on the posting. If you haven’t heard anything after two weeks, feel free to reach out via email for a status update.

Scheduling an Interview

All Student Affairs searches are managed by a search committee. Typically, the committee invites qualified candidates to engage in a first-round interview by phone or Zoom. After first-round interviews, candidates who are identified as the most qualified are then invited for a final interview, typically a full or half day on campus. Our goal for final interviews is to connect you with the teams most directly connected to the position, as well as provide additional insight into the resources, identities, and opportunities that most interest you. Candidates are welcome to review our internal hiring guidelines for more details about the search process. Each search varies slightly depending on the department’s needs, and unforeseen circumstances may require a flexible timeline.

Our Timeline

The complete search process may take anywhere from one to three months depending on the time of academic year, other open searches, and candidate needs. Either way, we’ll be in touch via email. Our goal is to communicate quickly and transparently. Any questions? Connect with your search chair. We are excited to welcome you to campus and eager to call you a Jayhawk.
