Heavy traffic anticipated Aug. 20, 21 for KU Housing & Residence life move-in


LAWRENCE — University of Kansas employees and the Lawrence community should anticipate heavy traffic around the Lawrence campus Aug. 20-21 during KU Housing & Residence Life’s busiest move-in days for its residence halls.

Traffic around Daisy Hill is expected to be heaviest from about 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The most frequented routes will be along Bob Billings Parkway and 15th Street, Clinton Parkway and West 23rd Street, Naismith Drive north of 19th Street and the following streets between Massachusetts Street and Iowa Street: 

  • 11th Street 
  • 14th Street 
  • 19th Street 

The following streets in the West District, as well as the Lied Center of Kansas parking lot, are also along move-in routes: 

  • Crestline Drive 
  • Becker Drive 
  • Constant Avenue 
  • Irving Hill Road 

Residents will be directed to park in the following lots after unloading: 

  • Lot 91 
  • Lot 90 
  • Lot 130 
  • Mississippi Street Parking Garage.

After move-in, vehicles should only be parked in lots corresponding with their parking permit. If you would like to avoid parking in lots with high traffic, refer to the KU Parking Map (PDF) to identify lots available for your permit.

Media are welcome to attend the event, but news vehicles will not be allowed to cross Irving Hill Bridge and enter the line of cars going to Daisy Hill.
