KU Student Affairs Announces Launch of Anonymous Student Conduct Reporting Platform

LAWRENCE, KS — KU Student Affairs is pleased to announce the implementation of RealResponse, an anonymous reporting platform accessible to Lawrence and Edwards campus students, staff, and faculty through text, email, or WhatsApp.

“We recognize some individuals may hesitate to report information due to confidentiality concerns. RealResponse offers a tangible solution to this challenge, allowing us to intervene and disrupt hazing culture more effectively,” said Melissa Stewart, director of Student Conduct and Community Standards (SCCS). “Hearing directly from students who have experienced or witnessed conduct violations like hazing is a critical step in eradicating this culture from our campus.”

When students, faculty, staff, or community members contact RealResponse about a hazing or conduct concern associated with a KU student or organization, their phone number is anonymized to keep their identity and data protected. SCCS will then follow up via the messaging platform to gather more information, such as photos, dates, times, and other needed information to generate a report.

“Our partnership with RealResponse brings KU Student Affairs in line with our national peers and aspirational programs leading this critical work,” shared Dr. Katie Treadwell, assistant vice provost for KU Student Affairs. “The platform creates a more user-friendly and accessible opportunity for students to share concerns and seek help. Their reports will help us reduce risk and increase well-being in student organizations and across the KU student community.”

Starting today, concerns can be reported to RealResponse via text message and WhatsApp at 785-333-4458 and email at tellsomeone@ku.realresponse.com. Staff or faculty concerned about a student can find resources at the Student Support Resource List.  For more information about RealResponse at the University of Kansas, visit studentaffairs.ku.edu/realresponse
