KU Student Affairs and the Health Education Resource Office Launch "Be Well at KU" for Student Wellness Resources
LAWRENCE, KS —The Office of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs at the University of Kansas is excited to announce Be Well at KU, a comprehensive wellness initiative designed to connect students with resources, events, and practical guidance aimed at supporting their overall well-being. After a successful pilot year, the initiative now features an expanded website and an active social media presence to help students navigate wellness support and events across campus.
The Be Well website, located at well-being.ku.edu, addresses all eight dimensions of wellness, encouraging students to take proactive steps to support themselves using resources provided by the KU community. Since establishing a regular content schedule, Be Well’s Instagram account, @bewellku, has engaged with 646 students, gaining 172 new followers since August 2025 as the initiative broadened its reach.
"Supporting student wellness is essential to academic success," said Jennifer Wamelink, associate vice provost for Student Affairs. "When we provide students with the resources to focus on their overall well-being, we facilitate learning. Be Well at KU consolidates all the tools and support services available across campus, making it easier for students to find what they need when they need it."
The platform includes practical, student-centered information such as a guide to massage chair locations on campus, how to find free menstrual products through the Period Project, and tips for well-being, organized around actionable "be" statements like “be connected”, “be fueled”, and “be inspired”. These guides help direct students back to KU resources and provide ideas for daily behavioral practices that contribute to well-being. Through consistent social media engagement, with posts once or twice a week, students receive regular wellness tips, event announcements, and highlights of campus support services.
The website continues to enhance its resource database, with additional wellness information and programming planned for Spring 2026. Student Affairs and the Health Education Resource Office (HERO) developed Be Well at KU to strengthen outreach on well-being and ensure students can easily access the full range of wellness support available at KU. Students can explore available resources at well-being.ku.edu or follow @bewellku on Instagram for ongoing and timely wellness tips and campus updates.
