Dr. Emily Lowrance-Floyd Appointed as KU Student Affairs Director of Assessment and Technology
LAWRENCE, KS — KU Student Affairs welcomes Dr. Emily Lowrance-Floyd as its new director of assessment and technology.
Dr. Lowrance-Floyd earned her Ph.D. in history at the University of Kansas, focusing on 20th century decolonization in British-occupied Africa. With nearly a decade’s worth of experience in higher education reporting and technology, Dr. Lowrance-Floyd will coordinate a variety of assessment initiatives to enhance student learning outcomes and priorities in partnership with all departments across Student Affairs.
Reporting to Assistant Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Dr. Kevin Joseph, Dr. Lowrance-Floyd brings extensive experience with applications management, device management, system administration, and data analysis with both the State of Kansas and University of Kansas.
“With the recent launch of our new strategic plan, Emily's role will be critical in assessing our progress and recognizing our successes,” shared Dr. Joseph. “Given her experience and expertise in systems administration and data analysis, I am confident Emily will continue to strengthen our work and highlight our departments’ impact on the student experience through data-informed storytelling.”
Dr. Lowrance-Floyd has already advanced a culture of assessment, evidence, and effectiveness in Student Affairs programming. With three years of prior experience serving as the Student Affairs functional systems analyst and five years of experience in faculty activity reporting at KU Analytics, Institutional Research, & Effectiveness, Dr. Lowrance-Floyd is eager to collaborate with the unit’s 14 student-facing departments.
