Bold Aspirations, the strategic plan of the University of Kansas, has at its core the mission to educate leaders, build healthy communities, and make discoveries that change the world. One of its arching themes is to Build Communities, Expand Opportunities. That theme specifically addresses disparities and promoting social justice. Student Affairs has a long history of supporting social justice education for students and opportunities for staff. There is always more to be done and to that end, Student Affairs staff are encouraged to become involved in the diversity and inclusion work of the profession.
To reinforce the Student Affairs commitment to diversity and inclusion, the annual performance evaluation should include two or more activities to meet the University Core Competency of Inclusiveness. While it is not an exhaustive or all inclusive list, some suggested activities (pdf) can be found here.
